EM Work Order Repair Types
Company Tracker action: implementation-setup-em-work-order-repair-types
Milestone: Equipment Management / Module Setup (milestone_id=15, core_milestone_id=2)
Order: 14
Estimated duration: 0.5 hours
Typical owner: Controller
Purpose
Complete the Equipment Management Module Setup action for EM Work Order Repair Types so decide/load/accept is clear before live EM. Form field detail stays on the Vista article.
Prerequisites
- Optional capability: enable only when in scope (otherwise hide via Tracker visibility).
- Agree on the repair categories shop and finance will report (scheduled, warranty, accident, and similar).
Vista configuration article
See the detailed Vista guide:
Configuring EM Work Order Repair Types
Field meanings and form steps live there. Do not restate them on this page.
Implementation guidance
- Examples: Scheduled Maintenance, Accident, Abuse, Warranty, Unscheduled. These are examples, not confirmed Vista ship defaults.
- What it's for: repair types mainly sort maintenance work in reports.
- Limits: codes are up to 10 characters and descriptions up to 30.
- How it fills in: a new work order item takes its repair type from its standard maintenance item, or from the company default if it has none.
- Decide / load / accept: agree the repair types shop and finance will report on, key them, and accept with the Controller. Hide this action in the Tracker if the client won't use repair types.
Tips and gotchas
- Put the repair type on each work order item, not only the header. Reports that sort by item won't sort correctly otherwise.
- Users can change the repair type at any time, even on an item that's already Final, though Vista warns first.
- Update All sets the same repair type on every item on the work order at once.
Done when
- In-scope setup for this action is loaded (or explicitly N/A / hidden when optional and out of scope).
- Owner accepts the decide/load result for go-live.
- Linked Vista configuration matches what was accepted.
