IN Location Materials

Purpose​

Populate the materials each inventory location can stock (import or add), including go-live unit costs/prices. Opening on-hand quantities are posted with IN Adjustment Entry, not mastered as static qty on this form.

Prerequisites​

  • IN Locations exist.
  • Material master (HQ Materials / categories) ready for items to stock.
  • Cost/price source for average unit cost, standard unit cost, and/or standard unit price.
  • Opening qty file (location + material + qty) ready if stock must be on hand at cutover.

Implementation guidance​

  • In scope for implementation — load materials that are relevant per location (what inventory each site can have). Import or add.
  • Cost and Quantities tab (main settings):
    • Average unit cost — can be seeded; after go-live it updates automatically from posted transactions.
    • Standard unit cost and/or standard unit price — set when the client uses standard cost/price.
  • On hand / allocated / available: shown from activity. Not the normal implementation populate path for starting balances.
  • Starting balances: enter through IN Adjustment Entry (this material at this location has X units). After that posts, on-hand quantity populates.
  • Decide / load / accept: which materials per location at go-live; which costs/prices to seed; whether opening qty adjustments are in the cutover pack. Accept after a sample location’s materials and (if used) adjustment post look correct.

Tips and gotchas​

  • Location Materials = allowed stock list + costs/prices; Adjustment Entry = opening quantities.
  • Skipping Location Materials leaves locations unable to stock/issue those materials cleanly.
  • Average unit cost will move with live posts — do not expect it to stay frozen after cutover.

Done when​

  • Go-live location↔material rows exist with accepted cost/price fields.
  • Opening quantities (if required) are posted via IN Adjustment Entry and on-hand reflects them.
