tedi-installation-prerequisites

Complete these items before you install TEDI on the Vista workstation that will run automations. For the full cross-product view, see the Robonauts Setup Requirements Matrix.

Who should do this

  • The person installing TEDI on a Vista workstation.
  • Someone with a TEDI license key and SQL credentials for the Vista database.

Required before setup

  1. Windows 10/11 (64-bit) host
This is the machine where Vista runs and where the TEDI Windows Service will poll schedules. See Windows Host Requirements.
  2. Viewpoint Vista client already installed and usable
TEDI drives the real Vista UI. Automations cannot run on a machine without Vista. See Vista Client on Automation Host.
  3. Outbound HTTPS to tuds.ai
Required for license activation and ongoing license validation. TEDI can operate without a daily TUDS login, but license checks contact tuds.ai. See tuds.ai Connectivity.
  4. Vista SQL Server access from the TEDI host
Needed to refresh TEDI’s local Vista metadata catalog. See Vista SQL Access Overview.
  5. SQL credentials (SQL login or Windows integrated)
See Create SQL Account if you need a dedicated SQL login.
  6. Cloud SQL path (cloud customers only)
TLS Database Endpoint or IPsec VPN so the TEDI host can reach SQL. See Cloud SQL Connectivity.
  7. TEDI license key
Format TEDI-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX, from purchase or TUDS licensing. Often entered during installer registration.
  8. Microsoft ODBC Driver 17 or 18 (x64)
Required for catalog refresh / SQL tooling. The installer typically prompts if missing. See ODBC Driver for SQL Server.

Not required for TEDI (current public installer)

  • .NET Framework 4.8 — not required for the current public TEDI installer
  • .NET 8 Desktop Runtime
  • SAP Crystal Reports runtime — not a day-one TEDI prerequisite
  • TUDS SQL Bridge
  • Microsoft Excel (unless a specific automation later needs it)
  • A TUDS user account for day-to-day operation — helpful for license retrieval and docs; not required for TEDI to run

Ready checklist

  • Vista client opens and is usable on the target machine
  • Windows 64-bit host identified
  • ODBC Driver 17 or 18 (x64) available (or ready for installer prompt)
  • SQL Server reachable; credentials known
  • Cloud TLS/VPN confirmed if cloud
  • TEDI license key on hand
  • Outbound HTTPS to tuds.ai confirmed
