Build Financial Trees
Use Financial Trees to define multi-company navigation (nodes with company/part scope). Assign a tree to a template so Viewer and Scheduler can run by tree instead of flat parameters.
Where: Mission Control → Financial Statements → Financial Trees
Route: /missioncontrol/financials/trees
Assign from Builder: /missioncontrol/financials/builder → Assign Tree. Run with trees in Run a financial statement.
Create a tree
Blank tree
- Click New tree (or empty state Create Tree).
- In Create Tree, enter Name and optional Description.
- Click Create.
Quick Tree (from GL)
- Click Quick Tree.
- In Quick Tree:
- Select Companies
- Set Depth — Company only, or Company → Part N (Part labels follow team Vista config)
- Click Generate.
Toast: Tree created / generated from GLAccts. The new tree is selected for editing.
Edit the tree structure
- Select a tree in the left Financial Trees list (
Search trees…). - In Tree Editor:
- Add Root — new root (default label Root Node)
- Add Child — child under the selected node (default label Child Node)
- Delete Node — remove the selected node only
- Delete Branch — remove the selected node and its descendants
- Per-row icons: Add child, Copy node, Delete node.
Node create/copy/delete and label/scope edits stay in a dirty draft until you Save. Save is enabled only when the tree is dirty. Cancel clears the selection (does not offer a separate Discard control).
Sidebar catalog actions (⋯)
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Open | Selects the tree |
| Rename | Inline rename (also double-click the name) |
| Duplicate | Copies the tree |
| Edit | Edit name/description (metadata saves immediately) |
| Delete | Delete Financial Tree → Delete Tree |
Set node label and company/part scope
- Select a node in Tree Editor.
- In the right Node Inspector:
- Edit Label
- Under Companies, choose which companies belong on that node
- Expand a company and set Part 2–6 values (CSV or part lookup). Parts that are not configured for the team are disabled.
Empty company scope shows as No companies under the node in the editor list.
Click Save after scope changes.
Assign a tree to a template
Binding is on the template in Builder (not on the Trees page):
- Open Financial Builder and select the template.
- Under Report Controls, click Assign Tree.
- In Assign Tree, choose Assigned Tree (or No assigned tree to clear).
- Click Save.
Toast: Assigned Tree updated. When a template has an assigned tree, Viewer prefers tree navigation for that statement.
When to use trees
| Use trees when… | Prefer Parameters when… |
|---|---|
| You need reusable multi-company rollups or drill paths | Every run is a simple company/part list for one End Month |
| Scheduler should use Scope Mode = Trees | Interactive Viewer runs with flat Parameters only |
Build and save the tree first. Assign it to templates that should lock to that navigation. Then run or schedule.
