Data Analysis Workflow
Use this page as the map for Data Analysis in Mission Control. It tells you which part of the workspace to use for each job, in what order, and which detailed guide to follow next.
Audience: Controllers, CFOs, and data analysts who review AP, AR, WIP, cash, and GL exposure in Mission Control.
Where: Mission Control → Agent Workforce → Data Analysis
Route: /missioncontrol/implementations/workforce/tedi-data-analysis
What the workspace owns
Data Analysis is one page with several jobs. You create named analyses (saved skill configurations), run them, review results, and optionally ask follow-ups in Ask TUDS.
| Job | What you define or review | Where in the workspace |
|---|---|---|
| Analysis catalog | Named analyses (one per company/scope you want to revisit) | Left sidebar Active Analyses; empty-state Create analyses; Add analysis |
| Run scope | Companies, months/dates, filters, WIP snapshot selection | Analysis Parameters (and the Parameters section on Summary) |
| Result layout | Which KPIs, charts, Top #s, recommendations, and snapshot columns appear | Display Template |
| Results | KPIs, charts, Top #s, recommendations, snapshot rows | Main panel Summary and Data Table after Run Again |
| Follow-up Q&A | Questions about the selected run | Right-side Ask TUDS |
Ask TUDS is the run-scoped chat inside Data Analysis. It is not the separate Agent Workforce Chat Assistant page.
Recommended order
Use this order the first time you stand up Data Analysis for a team:
- Create analyses — pick one or more available skills (Create analyses or Add analysis). Create separate analyses when you need different scopes (for example Company 99 vs Company 100).
- Set parameters — open Parameters, set companies / month / aging date / filters (and WIP snapshot settings for WIP), then Save Parameters.
- Run — open the analysis and use Run Again to produce a run with KPIs, charts, recommendations, and a snapshot.
- Review results — work the Summary panels (KPIs, Charts, Recommendations, Top #s) and the Data Table; use drilldowns and Explain where needed.
- Tune display (optional) — open Display Template to hide/show tiles, set Personal vs Team scope, or add custom charts.
- Ask follow-ups (optional) — use Ask TUDS on the selected run.
You can skip display templates if the defaults are enough. You can skip Ask TUDS if the Summary cards answer the question. You should not skip parameters if the default company/month scope is wrong for the review.
Available skills
Each analysis is tied to one skill. Skills marked Available Now can be created and run. Skills marked Coming Soon appear in the picker but cannot be selected yet.
| Skill | Use it to… | Parameter highlights |
|---|---|---|
| AP Aging | Vendor balances, Over 90, retainage / pay follow-up | Companies, Month, Aging Date; optional Vendors, Contracts, Project Managers, Departments, Jobs |
| AR Aging | Customer receivables, collection risk, retainage | Companies, Month, Aging Date; optional Customers, Contracts, Project Managers, Departments |
| WIP Analysis | Margin risk, over/underbilling, backlog, WIP-linked AR | Snapshot selection (latest / period / specific run), Compare mode, company and project filters — requires a succeeded WIP snapshot (see below) |
| Cash Management | Outstanding cash, stale checks, deposits in transit, open statements | Companies, Month; optional CM Accounts |
| GL Balances | Account-month movement, unusual balances, close-review signals | Companies, Beginning/Ending Month and Posted Dates; optional GL Accounts, Account Types, Subtypes, Journals, Budget Code |
Coming Soon in the UI (not covered as how-tos): Purchase Orders, Subcontracts, Payroll / HR, Equipment, Inventory.
WIP snapshot prerequisite
WIP Analysis does not pull live WIP from Vista on its own. It reviews a frozen WIP snapshot that already succeeded for the team.
Before you create or run a WIP analysis:
- Ensure WIP snapshots are produced in the Mission Control WIP area (builder / snapshot workflow for your team).
- In Analysis Parameters for WIP, choose how to pick the snapshot (Snapshot selection mode: latest, period, or a specific snapshot).
- Run only after a matching succeeded snapshot exists; otherwise the analysis has nothing current to review.
Project managers and ops who only need the WIP report should use the WIP reporting path—not this Data Analysis skill. Controllers and analysts use WIP Analysis here when they want snapshot-backed KPIs, recommendations, and Ask TUDS on that freeze.
Analyses vs runs vs display templates
| Concept | What it is | Job |
|---|---|---|
| Analysis | A saved named skill configuration in Active Analyses | Keep separate scopes (companies, filters, WIP snapshot mode) you will run again |
| Run | One execution of that analysis (Select run list) | The result set Ask TUDS and Summary panels bind to |
| Display template | Layout settings for KPIs / Charts / Top #s / Recommendations / snapshot columns | Control what appears after a run; Personal or Team scope |
Create the analysis first. Set parameters. Run. Then optionally customize the display template. Do not treat the display template as the place to change company or aging date—that belongs in Analysis Parameters.
Workspace map
| Control / area | Use it to… |
|---|---|
| Empty-state Create analyses | Select available skills and create analyses with default Vista company, current month/date, and All optional filters |
| Sidebar Active Analyses | Search, open, rename, edit, or Delete Analysis |
| Add analysis (+) | Create more analyses; optional Display template per skill at create time |
| Parameters | Open Analysis Parameters; Save Parameters |
| Display Template | Edit visibility, custom charts, template name/scope |
| Select run + Run Again | Choose a past run or execute a new one |
| Summary / Data Table | Review KPIs, charts, recommendations, and the snapshot grid |
| Ask TUDS | Ask run-scoped follow-ups; use suggested questions and history |
