Replace an Existing SQL Bridge Tray Icon

Use this guide when a Windows machine already has TUDS SQL Bridge Tray installed and you need to replace the existing tray app with a newer build or updated icon.

Before you begin

  • Download the new TUDS SQL Bridge Tray Setup <version>.exe installer.

  • Make sure you can see the current TUDS tray icon in the Windows notification area.

  • Close any bridge-dependent work if you are replacing the tray app on an active bridge machine.

Recommended replacement flow

  1. Right-click the TUDS SQL Bridge Tray icon in the Windows tray.

  2. Select Run Uninstaller .

  3. Confirm the uninstall prompt. The tray app will close and launch the Windows uninstall flow.

  4. After uninstall completes, run the new TUDS SQL Bridge Tray Setup <version>.exe .

  5. Launch TUDS SQL Bridge Tray again from the Start Menu.

Expected outcome : the old tray build is removed, the new build installs cleanly, and the updated tray icon appears after launch.

After reinstall

  1. Open the tray menu and select Bridge Settings .

  2. Confirm the bridge URL, SQL Server, database, and authentication settings are still correct.

  3. Use your normal bridge validation check, such as a TUDS bridge test or local health check.

Common gotchas

  • Run Uninstaller not shown : this article assumes a tray build that includes the direct uninstall action.

  • Old icon still cached in Windows : relaunch the tray app after install. If the icon still looks stale, sign out of Windows or clear the icon cache as part of standard Windows troubleshooting.

  • Config concerns : bridge settings are managed separately from the installer package, but you should still confirm the settings after reinstall.
