Configuring IAM Template
IAM Template defines how Vista reads an import file and maps its columns to Vista record fields.
Before you start
- Know the source file structure and the Vista records you need to create or update.
- Identify a standard template close to your import.
Steps
- Open IAM Template.
- On the Grid tab, find the standard template to use as a starting point.
- Select File → Copy Template to create your custom template.
- On the Info tab, set the delimiter type. Prefer a pipe (
|) when it does not appear in your data. - Set the starting line number to skip header rows when the file includes them.
- Open the Template Detail tab.
- Map each import-file column to its Vista column.
- For every mapped column, either select Use Viewpoint Default or enter a value in the record column.
- Save the template.
Notes
- Do not edit standard templates directly; Vista updates can overwrite those changes.
- A comma delimiter fails when data values contain commas.
- Incomplete field mapping can block a successful import or upload.
Tips
- Always work from a custom copy of the template so updates do not wipe your configuration.
