Configuring MS Truck Types

MS Truck Types sets up the kinds of trucks used for hauling/delivering materials (for example 3-axle end dump or 6-axle belly dump). Types are shared company codes you then:

  • Assign to trucks on MS Vendor Trucks
  • Assign to haul rates on MS Haul Codes when a rate applies to a specific type
  • Assign to vendor pay rates on MS Pay Codes the same way

Before you start​

  • Decide short codes (up to 10 characters) and descriptions (up to 60). Long names like “3 Axle End Dump” belong in Description, not in the code (or use an abbreviation for the code).
  • At least one truck type is required if you will post haul charges when entering tickets.

Steps​

  1. Open MS Truck Types.
  2. Enter Truck Type (up to 10 characters).
  3. Enter Description (up to 60 characters).
  4. Save.
  5. Assign the type on MS Vendor Trucks, and on MS Haul Codes / MS Pay Codes when rates are type-specific.

Hard rules​

  • ≥1 truck type before posting haul charges on tickets.
  • Code max 10; description max 60.
  • Types are shared across vendors (Vendor Trucks assigns each truck a truck number and type; the type itself is not “per vendor unique” in the Truck Types sense).

Notes​

  • Related: MS Vendor Trucks, MS Haul Codes, MS Pay Codes. On Vendor Trucks, gross/tare/capacity default onto tickets; if you reweigh tare every load, leave tare at zero on the truck and enter tare on the ticket. License/permit/insurance on vendor trucks are informational only.
