Configuring PR Craft Classes

PR Craft Classes are classifications within a craft (Journeyman, Foreman, Apprentice, and similar) used for pay rates, deductions, and liabilities. Crafts are unions or generic groupings. Define the craft first in PR Crafts. Use one class per distinct pay rate. Assign Craft/Class on PR Employees.

Hierarchy: Crafts < Craft Classes < Craft Templates < Craft-Class Templates. Missing class rates fall back to the employee standard pay rate.

Before you start​

  • The parent craft exists in PR Crafts.
  • Know shift rates, whether weighted-average OT is used, and whether the craft uses capped / prevailing-wage calculation methods.
  • EEO / Certified Transcript reporting needs are known when those fields will be used.

Steps​

Class header​

  1. Open PR Craft Classes (or open from the craft).
  2. Enter Craft, Class, and Description.
  3. Optionally enable weighted-average overtime and set Average By Week or Average By Day. Weighted-average OT must also match the job setting on JC Jobs; otherwise regular OT applies.
  4. Set EEO Class (J / A / T) when utilization reporting needs it.
  5. Set Wage Pct as a whole-number percentage for Certified Transcript-eMars when required.
  6. Enter AU Superannuation Weekly Minimum when Australian payroll uses it.

Pay rates and variable earnings​

  1. On Pay Rates, enter Shift, Old Rate, and New Rate. Old rates apply before the craft/template Effective Date; new rates apply on or after.
  2. Use Variable earnings when normal rate times factor is wrong for this class. Do not put add-on earnings here. Variable OT applies only when it is higher than the employee rate.

Prevailing wage / capped-code crafts​

  1. When the craft uses capped codes, set Calculation Method:
    • Standard
    • Cash Fringe Factored
    • Generous Fringe #1 / #2
    • Constant Fringe
  2. The craft Effective Date selects whether Old or New rates apply on a given timecard date.

Notes​

  • Honest partial: Trimble "Assign Deductions" detail was mid-browse captcha-blocked during the 2026-09-09 review. Deduction/liability assignment at class level follows the same craft hierarchy pattern; confirm field labels in your Vista build if they differ.
