Configuring PR Earnings Codes

PR Earnings Codes identify and categorize types of earnings (hourly, salary, overtime, add-on, leave paid, and similar). Code numbers drive processing order and report/check-stub print order (range 0-32767; leave gaps for later codes).

Before you start

  • HQ Earn Types exist for GL expense mapping.
  • JC Cost Types exist when earnings interface to Job Cost.
  • Know Method, Factor, and whether the code is Auto Earnings, Craft/Class add-on, True Earnings, Supplemental, OT, Salary Distribution, or Remote Timesheet related.
  • Deduction/Liability codes that associate to this earnings code already exist when you will link them here.

Steps

  1. Open PR Earnings Codes.
  2. Enter a unique Earnings Code and Description. Leave numbering gaps so you can insert codes later without renumbering.
  3. Choose Method (how the system calculates earnings):
    • A Amount
    • D Rate/Day
    • F Factored Rate/Hour
    • G Rate of Gross
    • H Rate/Hour
    • S Rate of STE (Straight Time Equivalent)
    • V Variable Factored Rate
    • R Routine (Australia / Canada)
    • L Allowance (Australia)
  4. Set Factor in 0.5 increments when the method uses a factor (examples: 0.5 half-time, 1.0 regular, 1.5 overtime, 2.0 double time). L-Allowance skips factor steps. Factors greater than 1 disable OT calculations for that code.
  5. Configure behavior flags as applicable:
    • Auto Earnings, Craft/Class Add-ons, True Earnings, ACA hours, Supplemental Earnings (U.S. federal supplemental tax path), Include in OT Calculations, Salary Distribution, Remote Timesheet options.
  6. Set Earnings Type (HQ Earn Types) for the GL expense account path, and JC Cost Type for Job Cost interface when used (F4).
  7. Set period/amount limits, certified-report detail, and Fringe Benefit Type when required.
  8. Associate Deduction/Liability codes that apply with this earnings code. For L-Allowance, complete Subject Earnings.
  9. Save. Assign codes on employees, crafts/classes, templates, leave codes, or overtime schedules as needed.
