Configuring PR State Insurance Codes
PR State Insurance Codes assigns insurance codes to states for workers' compensation deductions and liabilities (and related state-specific insurance or general-liability accruals). Rates and limits on this form drive how insurance calculates when employees and jobs use those codes.
Before you start
- HQ States and HQ Insurance Codes exist.
- Deduction/Liability codes exist in PR Deductions and Liabilities so Type, Description, and Method display when selected.
- PR State Information exists for the states you process.
- Know whether JC Insurance Templates will use insurance-by-phase (requires PR Company Parameters JC/SM insurance options).
Steps
- Open PR State Insurance Codes.
- Select State and Insurance Code (F4 for valid HQ values). Enter Description (up to 30 characters) when the form allows an override description.
- Enter Deduction and/or Liability codes with rates. Enter rates as decimals (example:
.15= 15%). - Typical workers' compensation liability uses Straight Time Equivalent as the method on the Ded/Liab code. One liability code may be reused across insurance codes and states with different rates on this form.
- Add additional state-specific codes and General Liability accruals when your states require them.
- Set weekly earnings limits / earnings-limit amount when the state or carrier caps subject earnings.
- Set threshold-rate override and override insurance code when a different code/rate applies above a threshold (keep any OSIP / zero-rate wage-tracking conventions your implementation already uses).
- Save. Assign insurance codes on employees, jobs, and JC Insurance Template as your process requires.
Notes
- JC Insurance Templates require PR Company Parameters insurance-by-phase (or SM scope) before templates are useful in Job Cost.
