Configuring RP Report Parameters
RP Report Parameters sets up the parameters on a report. Open it from the Parameters tab on RP Report Titles, or from the Programs folder. Form help: About the RP Report Parameters Form. There is no help slug configuring-rp-report-parameters and no separate “Configuring Report Parameters” procedure; field help is F1 / Field Definitions.
Before you start
- The report already exists; select Report ID with F4.
- Standard SSRS reports appear only if the Business Intelligence module is on.
- Crystal parameter names start with
?after Update Parameters on the Info tab of RP Report Titles. - Several lookup fields are Crystal-only (Load Sequence #, Lookup Parameters, Add’l Lookups Lookup Parameters / Load Sequence).
Steps / key fields
- Report ID — report whose parameters change (F4).
- Parameter Name — must exactly match the parameter name in the application the report was created in (F4).
- Display Sequence — launch order. You can change it, but do not break F4 lookup dependency order (example:
?Companythen?Project). - Description — up to 60 characters; becomes the input label at launch.
- Datatype — preferred. Applies the datatype input mask and enables F4. If blank, Input Type, Input Mask, and Input Length enable instead.
- If Datatype is blank:
- Input Type (
1-Numericalso needs Precision). - Precision (Numeric only): 0 TinyInt, 1 SmallInt, 2 Int, 3 Numeric (up to 38 digits; decimals from mask). Keep precision aligned with mask and length (example mask
#####, length 5 → precision 1 or 2). - Input Mask — string: R, L, F, LUCASE, FUCASE (omit = left justified; Fixed
Fuses Input Length). Numeric masks format display (example#,###,###,##0.00). Prefer predefined datatypes for multi-part codes (bContract,bPhase,bJob). - Input Length — max characters; Fixed mask requires an exact match.
- Input Type (
- Default Type + Default Value together. Types include: blank/fixed value in Default Value; Fixed Value (example Y); Current Date
%D(%D+1); Current Month%M; Report Parameter%RPxxx(source must have a lower Load Sequence #); Form Input%FIxxx(field sequence); Active Company%C; Active Project%Project; Active Job%Job; Active Contract%Contract; Active PR Group%PR Group; Active PR End Date%PR End Date; Active JB Prog Bill Mth%JB Prog Mth; Active JB Prog Bill #%JB Prog Bill; Active JB TM Bill Mth%JB TM Mth; Active JB TM Bill #%JB TM Bill; Report Attachment Channel. - Required.
- Multi Value — launcher accepts more than one value only if Report Lookup is not null and Lookup is Active. Crystal file or stored procedure must be modified for advanced multi-value.
- Lookup is Active — F4 uses this lookup; multiple actives appear as radio options. New lookups default Active.
- Crystal-only: Load Sequence # (lowest = default lookup), Lookup Parameters, and Add’l Lookups grid (Lookup, Lookup Parameters, Load Sequence, Active).
Hard rules
- Standard reports: the only allowed change is the input Default. Any other change means copy the report and edit the copy. (Reset appears only when standard parameters have been overridden and restores original defaults. HQMA still tracks additions/deletions/changes to parameters — see About Viewing the Master Audit Log.)
- Parameter name must match exactly.
- Do not reorder Display Sequence out of lookup dependency order.
- Choosing a Datatype disables Input Type, Input Mask, and Input Length.
- Multi Value does nothing unless Report Lookup is populated, Lookup is Active, and the report/proc supports it.
- All lookups added to the Add’l Lookups grid default to Active.
%RPdefaults key off lower Load Sequence # (Crystal lookup order), not Display Sequence.

%Mexample text may say “current date plus one”; Active Project%Projecttext may say “last company selected in PM Projects.”
