EM Asset Setup
EM Asset Setup creates depreciation schedules used by Process EM Depreciation. It supports equipment-costing and GL depreciation. It is not a complete tax depreciation system. Multiple asset codes are allowed per equipment item.
:::caution Equipment-costing / GL only Use EM Asset Setup for equipment cost and GL depreciation posting. Do not treat it as full tax depreciation for every jurisdiction. :::
Before you start
- Equipment records exist in EM Equipment.
- Depreciation close mode and related defaults are set on EM Company Parameters.
- Know purchase/residual values, useful life (months), method, and whether you need schedule overrides for existing assets.
Steps
- Open EM Asset Setup.
- Select the equipment and enter an asset code (multiple assets per equipment are allowed).
- Enter purchase, residual, and sale values as applicable, plus country-specific date/month fields the form exposes.
- Choose the depreciation method:
- Straight Line
- Declining Balance (US / Canada)
- Diminishing Value (Australia)
- Complete life, acceleration factor, and disposal fields when used.
- Set GL accounts as per-asset overrides where the form allows. Treat these as overrides when department or company defaults already cover posting; they are not always a hard required step on every asset.
- On the Schedule tab:
- Override calculated amounts when finance needs a fixed schedule.
- Enter to-date depreciation for assets that already have accumulated depreciation before Vista go-live.
- Save.
- Run Process EM Depreciation on the company close cycle after assets are ready.
Notes
- One equipment unit can carry several asset codes (for example body vs attachment) with separate schedules.
