EM Location Transfer

EM Location Transfer moves one piece of equipment between jobs and/or EM locations (yards, shops, and similar). Each save writes a location history row and updates current job and location on EM Equipment. For many units at once, use EM Mass Location Transfer v11. Attachments transfer with the primary equipment automatically.

Do not change Job and Location directly on EM Equipment for routine moves — that updates the master only and creates no transfer history. Use this form, mass transfer, or import location transfers (including initial history at go-live).

Before you start​

  • Destination EM location is Active when transferring to a location.
  • For a job transfer: JC company and job exist. Soft- or hard-closed jobs show status in red next to the job.
  • If you use EM Automatic Usage, enter Date and Time so same-day transfers and billed hours calculate correctly. Prefer this form (or mass) for transfers when auto usage is on.

Transfer one unit​

  1. Open EM Location Transfer.
  2. Enter Equipment (F4). The form shows the last recorded transfer (current location). Defaults to the last equipment transferred. If the unit is an attachment, saving detaches it from its primary equipment — cancel if that is wrong; transfer the primary instead so the attachment stays attached and moves with it.
  3. Enter Sequence: N, New, or + for the next number, or an existing sequence to edit that transfer. Defaults to the last transfer’s sequence.
  4. For a job destination: enter JC Co (required) and Job. Leave both blank when transferring only to a non-job location.
  5. Enter Location for an EM location destination, or leave blank when transferring only to a job.
  6. Enter Date (required) and optional Time (00:00–23:59). On a given date, at most one transfer for that equipment may have a blank Time. Multiple same-day transfers need times so order is clear.
  7. Optional Estimate Out Date (expected leave date; required when Use Est Out Date is checked on the auto usage posting template for a category or piece and the job uses that template). Optional Memo (up to 60 characters).
  8. On Attachments, add/edit/delete attachment transfers as needed. Override Date Time enables separate Date/Time for the attachment (must be after the primary transfer date); otherwise the attachment uses the primary transfer’s date and time.
  9. Save. History is written; current job/location on EM Equipment updates.

Use Search Criteria (JC Co, Job, Location, From Date, To Date) to find existing transfers. Notes supports spelling check and HQ Standard Notes.

Transfer many units (EM Mass Location Transfer v11)​

  1. Open EM Mass Location Transfer v11.
  2. Under Show Equipment Assigned To, set filters (blank = all for that field): JC Co, Job, Location, Category, Department, Assigned Shop, PR Co, Operator. JC Co is required if filtering by Job; PR Co is required if filtering by Operator.
  3. Select Equipment Refresh. Matching equipment lists in the Equipment pane (from EM Equipment, not location history).
  4. Move units to Equipment to Transfer (Add All, Shift/Ctrl+select + Add, or double-click). Remove the same way.
  5. Under Transfer To, enter In Date, optional In Time (00:00–23:59; 24:00 is not valid), JC Co, Job, and/or Location (location must be Active), and optional Est Out Date (same auto-usage rule as the single form).
  6. Select Initialize Transfer. Current job/location on each equipment record updates; transfer rows are created in EM Location Transfer so you can edit them afterward.
  7. To add more sets: change criteria, Refresh (clears and reloads Equipment), add to Equipment to Transfer, initialize again.

If the same piece also gets manual usage posting, use single EM Location Transfer, not mass. Attachments still transfer automatically.

Auto usage and company update options​

  • Auto usage bills from date/time on the job. Blank Time on a direct job-to-job move can bill a full day to both jobs from Hrs/Day on each job’s EM Auto Usage Posting Template.
  • Time before workday start starts usage at workday start; a later transfer after workday stop ends prior job usage at stop.
  • If EM Company Parameters Updates tab updates job/location when posting usage, EM Equipment can drift from location history. When using mass transfer, set Job Location option to Do not update Job or Location so the master stays aligned with history.
  • Restrict Usage to Current Job on EM Categories depends on current job/location from transfers.
