GL Journal Transaction Entry
GL Journal Transaction Entry is where you enter and post manual journal batches—adjustments, accruals, and reallocations.
Before you start
- The batch month’s fiscal period is open.
- Accounts are active and correctly typed.
- Journals exist (see Managing GL Journals).
Steps
- Open GL Journal Transaction Entry and start or open a batch.
- Choose the journal: General for standard entries, or Accruals for reversible entries.
- Enter lines. Use the reference column to tie related debits and credits into one balanced entry.
- Enter amounts as positive values and mark each line as debit or credit.
- Review the batch for balance and completeness.
- Validate (preview reports if needed), then Post.
Notes
- Unposted GL journal batches block GL Month End Close for the general ledger.
- When importing journals, format signed amounts so the import converts correctly (imports often expect negatives for one side—follow your import template).
Tips
- Keep attached batch reports on in company parameters for later research.
