JB T&M Template Labor Rates

JB T&M Template Labor Rates sets labor billing rates by labor category. Open from JB Programs, or double-click a row on the Labor Rates tab in JB T&M Template Setup.

Rates are used only when the template’s Labor Rate Option is Rates. If it is Cost, category rates are disregarded when billing (categories may still sort/summarize labor). Employee/craft overrides require Allow Labor Rate Overrides on the template and are entered on JB T&M Template Labor Override.

Before you start​

  • Labor categories exist in JB T&M Labor Categories (also called JB Labor Categories in some Help topics).
  • Template Labor Rate Option is Rates if these rates should drive invoice dollars.

Steps​

  1. Open JB T&M Template Labor Rates.
  2. Enter Template (defaults to the active template and is disabled if opened from Template Setup) and Labor Category.
  3. Enter Seq (New for the next number).
  4. Optionally restrict the rate (unchecked = all):
    • Restrict by Earn Type → Earn Type (HQ Earnings Types)
    • Restrict by Factor → Factor (for example 1.0, 1.5, 2.0)
    • Restrict by Shift → Shift
      Any combination is allowed.
  5. Set Rate Option for this category line:
    • C-Actual Costs — JC actual costs as posted
    • R-Labor Rate — amount in Old Rate or New Rate (by effective date)
    • F-Earnings Factor — JC earnings factor × the rate in Old/New Rate
  6. If Rate Option is R or F, enter Old Rate and/or New Rate (those fields are enabled only for R or F).
  7. Save. To delete a line: select it, Delete, confirm Yes.

Old vs new rates and effective date​

Labor Rate Effective Date on JB T&M Template Setup (shown on this form as New Labor Rate Effective Date) stages new rates while current rates stay in effect.

  • Detail with an actual date before the effective date uses Old Rate.
  • On or after the effective date uses New Rate.
  • If no effective date is set, New Rate is used and Old Rate is ignored.

File > Move New Rates to Old copies New into Old for every grid row. New Rate values are not cleared and must be updated by hand.

Template Labor Rate Option (Setup)​

On JB T&M Template Setup:

Labor Categories on the template (separate checkbox) controls whether detail is sorted/summarized by category on the invoice when sequences use a PR source.
