JC Cost Projections
JC Cost Projections maintains projected units, hours, and costs by phase / cost type (calculated, manual, or combined). Projections feed earned-revenue and overrun insight. This is the legacy JC form; enhanced projections also exist in Project Management from Vista 6.8.

Before you start
- Update JC Progress Entry first with physical units (not hours). Hours come from Payroll.
- Phases / cost types exist on the job. Review Why Phases or Cost Types Are Missing in Cost Projections if rows are missing.
- You have permission to enter cost projections.
Steps
- Open JC Cost Projections and create or open a batch.
- Set Batch Month (often the prior month) and Date to the month's last day. Select the Job.
- Configure Projection Options: phase / cost type filter, display columns, overwrite rules for plugged values (Never / Always / actual-cost or actual+committed thresholds), and whether to init all jobs, a range, or PM jobs.
- Run File > Calculate Projections.
- Review and edit phase / cost-type rows on the grid / detail. Plug projected final units, hours, or costs as needed. Projection Detail fields enable based on JB cost type category and Track Hours on JC Cost Types.
- Process the batch (validate / preview / post as your process requires).
Notes
- Recalculate does not consider plugged values already in the current batch. Choose how Calculate overwrites prior plugged values carefully.
- An asterisk on Progress Entry marks projected units overridden here.
- Field-ticket costs need open tickets when projections depend on them.
- Optional cross-link: PM enhanced projections from 6.8 when the company uses that path.
