Managing PR Routines
PR Routines calculate Deductions, Liabilities, and earnings when simple rates are not enough (table or percentage withholding). Vista ships standard routines. You must initialize them before use and associate them with Deduction, Liability, or Earnings codes that use Method R.
Before you start
- Apply current Trimble tax updates first.
- Deduction/Liability/Earnings codes that will reference routines exist (or will be created immediately after initialize).
Steps
- Open PR Routines.
- Review each routine:
- Procedure Name (user-defined names up to 10 characters).
- Description (up to 30 characters).
- Last Updated.
- Misc Amt #1-#4 (meanings depend on the routine setup).
- Note country-specific routine tables for the United States, Australia, and Canada. Use the tables that match your payroll locale.
- After every Trimble tax update, use File → Initialize before processing payroll that depends on updated tables.
- Associate routines from the Deduction, Liability, or Earnings code Method R setup.
Notes
- A year embedded in a procedure name that does not match the current tax year usually means Initialize was not run after the update.
