Managing RP Report Titles

RP Report Titles lists standard and custom reports. Copy a standard report before you change it so Vista updates do not overwrite your design.

Before you start

  • Crystal Reports Editor is installed on your computer.
  • Your computer has an ODBC connection to the cloud server.
  • Choose a naming convention (for example, company initials on custom titles and file names).

Steps

  1. Open RP Report Titles and find the standard report.
  2. Click Copy Report.
  3. Rename the report title (typically add company initials).
  4. Set the location to custom and update the file name to include the same initials.
  5. Click Copy. Vista creates a new report ID and related security records.
  6. In RP Report Locations, retrieve the custom report, edit it locally, and upload the updated file.
  7. Back in RP Report Titles, click Update Design after the upload.
  8. Click Update Parameters if the revised report includes new parameters.

Notes

  • Always use Copy Report. Do not edit standard reports directly.
  • Custom report IDs start at 10000 and auto-sequence from there.
  • Skipping Update Design or Update Parameters leaves Vista out of sync with the uploaded file.

Tips

  • Put company initials in both the title and the file name so custom reports are easy to spot.
