Managing RP Report Titles

RP Report Titles creates titles that link Crystal, SSRS, Excel, Word, PDF, HTML, Visio, or other files into Vista. Form help: About the RP Report Titles Form. Primary procedure: Link Report Files to Vista (Tasks may say “Creating Report Titles”). There is no help slug managing-rp-report-titles.

Standard titles ship with Vista and cannot be modified or deleted. To customize, use RP Report Copy first (VRL Cloud uses Set Up New Custom Vista Reports in VRL Cloud). Custom titles are new links or copies.

Before you start​

  • Create the file in the external app and place it in the path already defined in RP Report Locations for that report type.
  • Report types come from RP Report Type. Dashboard SSRS titles for a Dashboard Work Center use Report Type My VP.

Steps — link a file​

  1. Confirm the file sits in the RP Report Locations path for that type.
  2. Open RP Report Titles.
  3. Report ID: unused number in 10000–99999, or type N / New / + for the next ID (last created + 1, not the lowest unused). IDs 1–9999 are reserved for standard Vista. Custom status is ID ≥ 10000. Field defs also say the field can default to the first report on the list when browsing.
  4. Application: Crystal, SQL Reporting Services, Other, or Dashboard OLAP Report.
  5. Report Location (F4) and Report Type (F4). Only files in that location list, or the typed name must exist there.
  6. Title: up to 60 characters; defaults to the file name; must be unique (not the same as a standard report).
  7. Country (F4) if shown — only when it matches HQ Company Setup country.
  8. Owner: required; defaults to the current login. After save, change owner only via File → Change Owner (RP Change Report Owner).
  9. Optional Memo (up to 255, informational) and Description (shown on RP Report Launcher Report Info for Crystal and SSRS).
  10. Show on Menu: checked = appears in the Reports folder of modules on the Assigned Modules tab; unchecked = not on module Reports menus (save help may still mention the RP Reports folder on the Main Menu).
  11. Icon Key / Change Icon when available (field defs: custom reports you own only).
  12. If Application is Crystal / My Viewpoint Report / My Viewpoint OLAP Report: Update Design (updates Layout and, for My Viewpoint, Queries). Layout is display-only; run Update Design again after every design change.
  13. Parameters: Parameters related tab or RP Report Parameters. Crystal: Update Parameters imports them into RP Report Parameters / table RPRF.
  14. Assign modules and forms (RP Reports by Module / by Form).
  15. Optional Printer/Viewer Options (printer, paper source/size, export format, duplex, orientation, viewer size). Defaults follow the last use for that login.
  16. Dashboard reports: Assigned Templates tab — Template Name (F4) and Active.
  17. Save.

Delete​

Records → Delete or toolbar Delete removes the title, parameters from RPRF (not the report file), and menu assignments. Prompt asks to remove all parameters. Delete is blocked if the custom report is assigned in SM Customers, SM Service Sites, or SM Invoice Review.

Hard rules​

  • Do not edit or delete standard titles; copy first.
  • Owner control: field defs say only the owner can modify or delete. About page says non-owners can still override Report Type, Show on Menu, and the icon — while Icon Key field defs say custom + you own only. Prefer owner-only for design/parameters; treat About’s overrides as limited UI exceptions.
  • Report file must already exist in the selected location.
  • Deleting the title does not delete the file.
  • Office License Required: N/A for CUL / on-prem. For NUL with PM-only licenses and VA User Profile License Type 1-PM: standard titles have the box disabled and selected; custom (ID ≥ 10000) can check it so a 1-PM user run is recorded as Office-license for that day (and VA Audit Log). Security still controls access.
  • Force Local Render (Crystal): checked = local render with custom fonts; unchecked = cloud render with standard Vista fonts.
  • Transactional Report (Crystal Info tab): only with purchased cloud Vista Enterprise Database (secondary reporting DB). Checked = run against primary transactional DB for real-time data. Default checked for payroll batch/check printing and batch reporting process reports; otherwise a no-op without the add-on.
