Managing RP Report Titles
RP Report Titles lists standard and custom reports. Copy a standard report before you change it so Vista updates do not overwrite your design.
Before you start
- Crystal Reports Editor is installed on your computer.
- Your computer has an ODBC connection to the cloud server.
- Choose a naming convention (for example, company initials on custom titles and file names).
Steps
- Open RP Report Titles and find the standard report.
- Click Copy Report.
- Rename the report title (typically add company initials).
- Set the location to custom and update the file name to include the same initials.
- Click Copy. Vista creates a new report ID and related security records.
- In RP Report Locations, retrieve the custom report, edit it locally, and upload the updated file.
- Back in RP Report Titles, click Update Design after the upload.
- Click Update Parameters if the revised report includes new parameters.
Notes
- Always use Copy Report. Do not edit standard reports directly.
- Custom report IDs start at
10000and auto-sequence from there. - Skipping Update Design or Update Parameters leaves Vista out of sync with the uploaded file.
Tips
- Put company initials in both the title and the file name so custom reports are easy to spot.
