Why Phases or Cost Types Are Missing in Cost Projections

Phases and cost types can be filtered out of JC Cost Projections and PM Cost Projections by company settings, projection options, inactive status, linked cost types, or on-form filters. Work through the checks below in order.

The same concepts apply on both forms (menu names differ slightly between JC and PM).

1. Role and Projection Options filters

Phases are filtered by JC job roles and/or JC Projection Options:

  • Users without a job role see all phases.
  • Users with roles see the intersection of their role phase range and the Projection Options phase range.
  • Projection Options also filter by General / Cost Type Options. Narrow filters here are a common reason rows disappear.

2. Active phase / cost type status

Costs, estimates, and commitments post only to active phases:

  • Enable Active Phase on JC Job Phases > Info for the phase.
  • Bulk-change with File > Phase Status Change for a range.
  • Changing a phase's status does not automatically change assigned cost-type status. Activate cost types separately when they are inactive.

3. Locked jobs

On locked jobs, only phases assigned in JC Job Phases, Original Estimates, or Change Orders appear:

  • F4 lookup excludes the full JC Phases master.
  • F5 can add a phase when permitted.
  • All phases must still exist in JC Phases.

4. Linked cost types and Projection Detail

  • Linked cost types follow the primary cost type's percent complete. If the primary has no estimates or actuals, linked types act independently.
  • Projection Detail requires Activate Projection Detail Feature in JC Company Parameters > Projections. Without that flag, detail rows stay unavailable.
