PM Copy Template

PM Copy Template adds phases and cost types from a PM Template Phases template into an existing project. The destination project must already exist in PM Projects. Estimated units, hours, dollars, and contract amounts are not on templates — enter them after the roll-in in PM Project Phases and PM Contract Items.

Before you start​

  • Template exists in PM Template Phases.
  • Project exists in PM Projects.
  • Know how missing contract items / JC standard item codes should resolve (contract region + JC Company Parameters Add Standard Item Code to Database if Not on File).

Steps​

  1. Open PM Copy Template.
  2. Enter the Template (from PM Template Phases).
  3. Enter the Project.
  4. Click Copy.
  5. Review phases in PM Project Phases and enter estimates / contract amounts as needed.

What is copied​

  • All template phases and cost types into PM Project Phases, with standard item codes assigned to the template’s contract item.
  • Missing contract items are created on the contract (PM Contracts).
  • Phases/cost types missing from JC Phases still copy, forced to UM = LS, Bill Flag = C, Item Unit / Phase Unit = N.
  • No contract item and no standard item code → phase assigned to contract item #1 (procedure: item description = project description, UM = LS).
  • Standard item code valid for the contract’s region and no contract item → that code becomes the contract item (description/UM from JC Standard Item Codes).
  • Standard item code not on file for the region:
    • Add Standard Item Code… checked: add to JCSI, create contract items, phases use that code as the contract item.
    • Unchecked: clear the standard item code; assign phase to contract item #1.
  • Procedure only: a subcontract cost type on any phase adds a PM Subcontract Detail row.
  • Multiple templates: first copy builds phase/contract-item data on the existing project; later roll-ins add new phases (skip duplicates) and new contract items.

What is not copied​

  • Estimated units, hours, dollars, and contract amounts.
  • If a phase already sits on a contract item and a standard item code is also specified, the item code is not copied to the contract (phase/cost types still add).
  • Procedure: if the contract has no region, the standard item code is unused; description comes from the phase and UM is LS.
