Setting Up EM Work Order Status Codes
EM Work Order Status Codes track progress on work-order items. Code ≤10 characters; description ≤30. Status types control behavior:
- Normal: beginning or in-progress statuses.
- Final: completion; items with a Final status are deletion-eligible.
- Parts: appears on Parts reports.
Before you start
- Decide the lifecycle set the shop will use (for example Pending, In Progress, On Hold, Complete, Canceled).
- Pick one code to be the Beginning WO Status default on EM Company Parameters.
Steps
- Open EM Work Order Status Codes.
- Enter each status code (≤10) and description (≤30).
- Set the status type to Normal, Final, or Parts.
- Save the set you need.
- On EM Company Parameters, set Beginning WO Status to the Normal status new work orders should inherit.
- Update status on work-order items as work progresses (not only at header level when item tracking is in use).
Notes
- Final means complete and deletion-eligible. Do not use Final for in-progress holds.
- Parts-type statuses surface on Parts reports; use them when parts progress must appear there.
