Setting Up GL Fiscal Years

GL Fiscal Years defines which fiscal years and periods are available for posting.

Before you start

• The company must exist in HQ Company Setup.
• GL Company Parameters must be configured (this is where the open-months policy is decided).
• Know your company's fiscal calendar.

Steps

1. Open GL Fiscal Years.
2. Add the fiscal year(s) you need for posting (you can add the next year ahead of close).
3. Confirm periods match how you close months.

Notes

• The next fiscal year must exist before users need to post into it. Include fiscal-year setup on your annual close checklist so period 1 isn't blocked.
• Adding many future years plus a high max-open-months setting lets users post far ahead and undermines period control. Prefer adding years one at a time unless you have a reason to open more.
