Setting Up IN Location Groups

IN Location Groups group one or more inventory locations. Groups are where you can override GL accounts that material postings use for those locations. BOM and some reporting also key off location groups.

Before you start

• Decide grouping: one group for all yards, one-to-one group per location, or regional groups.
• Know any GL overrides that should apply at the group (vs location or category).

Steps

1. Open IN Location Groups.
2. Enter a group code and description.
3. Assign locations to the group (locations are set up on IN Locations).
4. Set any group-level GL overrides the client needs.
5. Save.

Notes

• Few locations often share one location group; some clients use a one-to-one location↔group map.
• Wrong group membership or overrides send inventory posts to the wrong GL—review when adding locations.
