Setting Up IN Location Materials

IN Location Materials defines which materials each inventory location may stock, plus cost/price defaults on the Cost and Quantities tab.

Before you start

  • IN Locations exist.
  • HQ / material master items exist for materials you will stock.
  • Average unit cost, standard unit cost, and/or standard unit price values ready when you load costs at go-live.
  • Opening quantities (if any) will be posted later with IN Adjustment Entry — not typed as lasting on-hand on this form for cutover.

Steps

  1. Open IN Location Materials.
  2. Select the location, then add each material that location can stock (import or key).
  3. On Cost and Quantities, set average unit cost, standard unit cost, and/or standard unit price as the client uses them.
  4. Review on-hand / allocated / available if shown — these reflect posted activity; do not treat them as the cutover load path.
  5. Save.
  6. Post opening balances with IN Adjustment Entry (location + material + quantity) when stock must be on hand at go-live.

Notes

  • This form answers “what inventory can this location have?”
  • Average unit cost updates automatically from posted transactions over time.
  • On-hand / allocated / available are results of activity — opening qty is loaded via IN Adjustment Entry, which then populates on-hand after post.
