Setting Up JC Jobs

JC Jobs is the job master. It holds identity and links used across Inventory, Material Sales, Payroll, Project Management, and Analytics: description, contract, project manager, liability template, payroll state, phase lock, compliance groups, and invoice reviewer. Additional tabs cover Analytics, Roles, Workflow, price template / haul tax, PR Info, and price escalators when those features are in scope.

Soft close and hard close are controlled on JC Contract Close and JC Company Parameters, not as day-to-day fields on this setup article.

Before you start​

  • Contract and related masters you will link are ready (JC Contracts, JC Project Managers, liability / insurance templates as used).
  • If using Analytics, configure HQ Project Structure Types first.
  • If using job Roles, set up HQ Roles first.
  • Price escalation needs HQ Escalation Index / Materials when MS oil-price tracking is in use.
  • You have permission to maintain JC jobs.

Steps​

  1. Open JC Jobs.
  2. Enter job number and description.
  3. Link contract, project manager, liability template, and payroll state as applicable.
  4. Set compliance groups and invoice reviewer group when the company uses those controls.

Phase lock​

  1. Set Phases on this Job are Locked when you want transaction posting restricted to phases already on the job:
    • Locked: operators may post only to phases set up in JC Job Phases, JC Original Estimates, or Project Management, or phases already used on the job before the lock.
    • Unlocked: any phase from JC Phases can be used on posting.
    • Locking does not stop users from adding or configuring phases in Job Phases, Original Estimates, or PM.

Also configure when in scope​

  1. Complete remaining tabs as needed for Phase 1:

    • Info: Markup / Discount and related job defaults the form exposes.
    • Add'l Info: Price Template, Haul Tax Option.
    • PR Info: payroll-related job defaults.
    • Analytics: structure type; check Exclude from Analytics explicitly when the job must stay out of Analytics.
    • Roles: assign job roles and users (for example project manager). Enables filtering by job phase / role in Progress Entry and Cost Projections. Initialize phase roles with File > Job Phase Roles Initialize.
    • Workflow: job-specific workflow assignments override company / module defaults.
    • Apply Price Escalators: Material Sales oil-price tracking when HQ escalation indexes are configured. Escalation quotes can override the job start-date bid index.

Notes​

  • Once a job has activity, deletion generally requires JC Contract Purge. Unposted jobs can be deleted here only after related phases, cost types, and estimates are removed. Deleting a job also removes related PM records (project firms, issue history, documents, punch lists, submittals, and similar).
  • Reusing a purged job number requires no JCJH activity and no AP / PO / SL detail for that number.
  • Job-level Workflow assignments override company / module defaults. Exclude from Analytics must be set explicitly when a job should stay out of Analytics.
