Setting Up PR Employees

The PR Employees form is essential for managing employee records within Vista. It allows businesses to add and configure employee details necessary for payroll processing, ensuring accurate and efficient payroll management.

Before you start

  • Employee's personal and employment details.
  • Knowledge of the company's payroll groups, departments, and insurance codes.

Steps

  1. Open thePR Employeesform.
  2. Enter the employee's basic information: name, address, social security number, race, birth date, and hire date.
  3. Assign the employee to a PR group, department, insurance code, and specify their tax, unemployment, and insurance state.
  4. Use default options to set the employee's tax, unemployment, and insurance state for time card entries.
  5. On the Additional Info tab, assign a default earnings code to classify the employee as hourly or salary.
  6. Enter the salary amount or hourly rate based on the employee's classification.
  7. If applicable, enter a JC fixed rate for job cost calculations.
  8. Select the appropriate overtime calculation method (weekly or daily) and schedule.
  9. For direct deposit, enter details on the Direct Deposit tab and additional deposits on the Additional Direct Deposits tab.
  10. Specify the employee's filing status on the Filing Status tab, including federal and state statuses.
  11. Enter any employee-specific deduction and liability codes, such as 401k, medical, dental, and vision.

Notes

  • Ensure all employee information is accurate to avoid payroll errors.
  • Be cautious when assigning tax states, as incorrect settings can lead to tax miscalculations.
