Setting Up SM Cost Types

SM Cost Types categorize work-order costs (labor, equipment, material, other, subcontracts) and link them to Job Cost for reporting and tax.

Before you start​

  • Know which JC cost types SM should map to.
  • Decide which SM cost types are taxable for sales or use tax.

Steps​

  1. Open SM Cost Type.
  2. Add cost types for the categories you use (labor, equipment, material, other, subcontracts).
  3. Link each SM cost type to a corresponding JC cost type.
  4. Mark taxability for sales or use tax as required.
  5. Save.

Notes​

  • Wrong taxability settings produce incorrect tax on invoices.
