Using the VA View Generator

VA View Generator regenerates views after datatype security is activated or changed in VA Data Security Setup. Views plus VA Data Security Access settings filter tables so users only see data they may access. Trimble form title: About the VA View Generator Form. Procedure: Regenerating Views. Before you start

• Adjust or activate datatype security in VA Data Security Setup.
• For Add Unsynchronized Views, Apply Security must be checked on the Secure Tables tab for those tables.

Access

• Regenerate Views button in VA Data Security Setup: only views for the datatypes selected there.
• Viewpoint Administration → Programs → VA View Generator: all securable views.

Steps — regenerate after datatype security

1. Open VA View Generator (from Data Security Setup or Programs).
2. Add Unsynchronized Views. Views to Regenerate then lists tables with Apply Security checked. Skip this step if you opened the form from the VA Programs folder (you already have the full Available list).
3. Optionally select more items from Available Views / Available Tables (Ctrl-click / Shift-click), or All to select every table in Available Tables.
4. Add. Moves selections into Views to Generate / Views to Regenerate (Trimble mixes these labels on the same page).
5. Regenerate Views.
6. If a view cannot be regenerated, an error and the view name appear at the bottom.

Custom-field refresh

When a custom field from VA Custom Fields Wizard is not working: Tools → Refresh all views → confirm → Yes.

Hard rules

• Unsynchronized add only covers tables with Apply Security checked.
• Opening from Programs skips the unsynchronized-only filter; you pick from Available Tables yourself.
• Failed regenerations surface as an error plus view name at the bottom of the form.
