Imports overview

The Imports (IM) module imports and updates Vista records from external files using templates. Data is staged first so you can review it before it reaches the live database.

Typical flow​

  1. Copy a standard template in IAM Template and map file columns to Vista fields.
  2. Optionally set up IM Cross Reference values when source codes differ from Vista values.
  3. Run IM Import to load the file into staging.
  4. Review and correct staged rows in IM Work Edit.
  5. Run IM Upload to add or update live records.

Before you use IM​

  • You have permission to use IM and access the target Vista records.
  • You know the source file layout and required target fields.
  • You have a unique import ID for the file (initials are common).
