Job Cost overview

The Job Cost (JC) module tracks job costs, estimates, projections, commitments, and contract revenue in Vista.

Typical flow

1. Configure JC Company Parameters, cost types, departments, and phase standards.
2. Set up contracts, jobs, phases, and original estimates (or copy from a template job).
3. Post costs from other modules (AP, PR, and so on) and adjust with JC tools as needed.
4. Enter progress, cost/revenue projections, and change orders; close contracts when complete.

Before you use JC

• Phase code length and closed-job posting rules are set in company parameters.
• Cost types and departments map correctly to GL.
• Project managers, insurance templates, and liability templates are ready if you use them on jobs.
